Polyacrylamide is a polymer which is acrylamide polymerized with other additives products. Anionic polyacrylamide is used for remove the SS value and ruduce the COD in pretreatment process. The common pretreatment machine in the pretreatment process is DAF or other equipment. Due to these types pretreatment equipment, anionic polyacrylamide is a suitable polyacrylamide powder for sewage pretreatment. 

In the first step, inorganic polymers(PAC) are used to break the stability of the sewage and then polyacrylamide powder is used to bridge the small flocs and form large flocs. This is beneficial for solid-liquid separation in air flotation machines or inclined plate settlers.


Second, when the large flocs begen solid-liquid separation by using anionic polyacrylamide powder for sewage pretreatment process, this is a key link to test the performance of anionic powder for sewage pretreatment.

As a key polymer in pretreatment process, anionic polyacrylamide is a better polymer for separation. The parameters of high charge (30-35%) and high molecular weight are suitable for anionic powder for sewage pretreatment.


The relationship between anionic polyacrylamide (APAM) and the air flotation machine in the sewage pretreatment process: 


1.The role of anionic polyacrylamide powder for sewage treatment Anionic polyacrylamide is a water-soluble polymer that mainly plays the following roles in using anionic powder for sewage treatment: 1)Flocculation: Through electrical neutralization and adsorption bridging, impurities such as suspended solids and colloidal particles in the sewage are coagulated into larger flocs for subsequent separation and removal. 

2) Precipitation promotion: Accelerate the sedimentation rate of the flocs and improve the precipitation efficiency. 


2. The working principle of the air flotation machine The air flotation machine is a device that uses highly dispersed tiny bubbles as carriers to adhere to the suspended solids in the sewage, making their density less than that of water and floating to the water surface to achieve solid-liquid separation. 

Its working process mainly includes the following steps: 

1) The dissolved gas system generates tiny bubbles. 

2) The sewage enters the air flotation tank and comes into contact with the bubbles. 

3) The suspended solids adhere to the bubbles to form floating scum. 

4) The floating scum is scraped by the scum scraper to the scum collection tank for discharge. 


3. The synergy between anionic polyacrylamide and the air flotation machine 

1) Improve the air flotation effect Anionic powder for sewage treatment can make the impurities in the sewage form larger and denser flocs. These flocs are more likely to adhere to the bubbles, thereby improving the removal efficiency of suspended solids by the air flotation machine. 

2) The formed flocs have good stability and are not easily broken during the air flotation process, ensuring the stability of the air flotation effect. 

3) Reduce the amount of bubbles. Due to the flocculation effect of anionic polyacrylamide powder for sewage treatment, impurities are more easily captured by the bubbles. Therefore, the bubble generation amount of the dissolved gas system of the air flotation machine can be reduced to a certain extent, and the operating cost can be lowered. 

4) Optimize the subsequent treatment process. After treatment by the air flotation machine, most of the suspended solids in the sewage are removed, reducing the burden of the subsequent treatment process. The use of anionic polyacrylamide can enable the impurities in the sewage to be well separated in the air flotation stage, creating favorable conditions for subsequent biological treatment, advanced treatment and other processes.
